Post in this thread if you can cook more than 10 different meals. Post in it if you can't cook 10 different meals.
I am of the former, but only barely.
I can cook essentially anything if given enough time to taste and examine it.
You better believe I can cook more than 10 different meals. The trouble is deciding which to cook, and whether or not I can be bothered cooking it.
I know over 10 different ways to prepare count chocula.
The trouble is gathering enough ingredients.
define "meals"
I'm familiar with at least ten meals, but I try to look for a new recipe first.
Former. Meals may include multiple dishes per meal, correct? Also with recipe information abound it's not that hard to cook 10 or so meals if you can already cook a few very well. It's all in knowing how to do the basics. >>3279depends on where you live.
Give me the ingredients and I can cook anything to a satisfactory level.
As long as I'm given a cookbook to go off of for methods of cooking I've never done before, I can probably improvise most any meal.
Also if you ever want to learn to make bread, GET THIS BOOK.
I...I'm afraid of knives and fire...
>>3526I was very afraid of frying after I got my foot really bad. You can do it. Baby steps.
>>3526Knives aren't hard; keep a few things in mind and you won't have a problem.Always keep your knife sharp. Every time you take it out, hone it with a steel. If you've been chopping things for a while (like a full onion, say), take a minute to hone it again. A sharp blade will catch into the vegetable right away, while a dull blade might slip off and slide into your fingers. While you're slicing, you want to make a circular motion with your hand instead of just a straight up and down. This shows pretty well (and has a really good series on using kitchen knives) http://rouxbe.com/tips-techniques/254-knife-skills-rolling-technique-2-of-5Also keep your fingers out of the way.
>>3526What Chev said (>>3532), plus get a fine-grained whetstone. If you're cooking a meal a day, you should probably use it about once a week.
does memorising the instructions off of the packet count?
>>3532I swear, one of these days I'm going to sit down and learn to chop things the expert's way. I can turn things into kiblets well enough, sure, but that other method is something you could take pride in; like juggling or spinning a pen.
>impying I cannot cook infinite number of meals
I can cook roughly 34 different meals.
I can cook so many meals from memory and almost anything in a cookbook.Unfortunately the cookware I have sucks right now and I'm too poor to buy good shit
I can cook more than 10. Thank you Gordon Ramsey!
I can cook more than ten. A bunch of them are the same as others, with different main ingredient, though.
I'm learning how to cook. Also, wondering if I should go for a job as a cook assistant or something kitchen-related, if at least for the experience.I don't know, I mean, I've always liked cooking, but I get paid more for doing a lot less in my current job.
>>3716Only if you think your life is lacking stress. Kitchens are like warzones.
Every time I come here to see if there's a new post, this post slaps me across the face. NO I CAN'T COOK, OK?!
>>3716Chefs and people with careers (not necessarily jobs, you know) in the food-service industry die earlier. True story.
>>3721...I knew I'd die young, I just wasn't sure why.
I own a restaurant, I can cook a mexican into an american if I please
>>4042DO IT, I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU.
