Watching as the embers faded away, Sam simply sat there as the smoke slowly drifted from his face.
When the flame finally died he ignited another cigarette, and continued to illuminate the dusk with its fiery glow.
The stark mountainless desert surrounding Sam had somehow become an amusing sight to behold.
Having become accustomed to endless sand dunes, smooth landscape, and calming whistle of the winds, Sam was at peace.
Focused on his contemplations, Sam was unaware of the door opening until he was disturbed by Christ(ina)'s presence.
Disregarding Christ(ina)'s existence, Sam instead continued admiring the bleak abyss that followed the steel tracks.
Christ(ina) remained as though attempting to analyze Sam's motives for such rude behavior, evidently to no avail.
As suddenly as she had appeared Christ(ina) had left, as though having gathered enough information, or maybe none at all.
Upon entering the abandoned passenger car, Christ(ina) maneuvered through the cluttered aisle like a decrepit doll.
Near an overturned table Christ(ina) noticed a spilt tray of spoiled food with only an apple suitable to eat.
When reaching for the apple, Christ(ina) paused briefly as though having a peculiar thought, or discovering a lost memory.
When the sensation was forgotten, Christ(ina) finished her meal and moved to the next passenger cart.
Christ(ina) stumbled into what may have been a lounge, and seated herself by a window gazing at the horizon as Sam did.
