>LONDON - Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting unit said Friday that it has given the green light to a third season of global hit series The Amazing World of Gumball on Cartoon Network. The first series from London-based Cartoon Network Studio Europe launched last year and has drawn strong ratings for Cartoon Network worldwide. It uses 2D and 3D animation in a live-action setting. . . .
>In the U.S., the second season premiere was the top show of the day among boys 2-11 and 6-11, as well as number one in its time period among kids 2-11, 6-11 and all boys demos, according to the network.
>For the third season, Turner has commissioned 40 episodes. Air dates have not been set, but the show will continue to air on Cartoon Network in over 160 countries.
